What is the Future Leaders’ Program for Global Peace?

As one of the initiatives in the Hiroshima for Global Peace Plan, this program enables high school students to take the first step toward building their future and empowers them to become individuals who will aspire for global peace and can operate on an international level, by teaching them English and basic international relations such as nuclear disarmament and conflict resolution.

 

 

Future Leaders’ Program for Global Peace, 2025 Fiscal Year (Vol. 9)

Dates and Venues

Training in Hiroshima (comprising seven sessions, 10:0017:00, Hiroshima City)

2025: 7/27 (Sun), 8/10 (Sun), 9/15 (Mon), 10/26 (Sun),11/24 (Sun), and 12/14 (Sun)

2026: 1/18 (Sun)

 

Special training (5 days, in Hiroshima City)

Participation in the Hiroshima Junior International Forum

Scheduled for mid-August 2025

 

Overnight training outside the prefecture

Visit to Okinawa Prefecture October 11 (Sat)–13 (Mon, holiday), 2025

Visit to Nagasaki Prefecture November 1 (Sat)–3 (Mon), 2025

 

Overseas training

Visit to the Philippines January 5 (Mon)–10 (Sat), 2026

Training Contents

Learning Program about Global Peace

This program aims to cultivate a deeper understanding of international topics through learning about present trends in nuclear disarmament and nonproliferation, the destruction of Hiroshima by the A-bomb and its reconstruction, and the political, economic, and societal frameworks to advance reconstructions and peacebuilding.

 

English Practice


This program will enhance the participants’ English skills through speech and discussion as well as vocabulary practice, with the themes of the UN Charter, historically significant speeches, and international issues related to peace (nuclear weapons, nonproliferation, etc.)

 

Special Training

Participation in the Hiroshima Junior International Forum

Participants will hold group discussions on international peace with high school students from overseas and other countries and send messages toward the realization of a peaceful world without nuclear weapons.

 

Overnight training outside the prefecture

3-day/2-night training in Okinawa Prefecture

Participants will visit Okinawa Prefecture and learn about peace in the prefecture.

3-day/2-night training in Nagasaki Prefecture

Participants will visit Nagasaki Prefecture and learn about peace in the prefecture.

Half of the 20 participants will be sent to Nagasaki Prefecture and the other half to Okinawa Prefecture.

 

Overseas training

6-day/5-night training in Manila, Philippines

As a culmination of the English seminar, exchange activities with local high school students will be conducted in English.
