We in Hiroshima Prefecture and the Hiroshima Organization for Global Peace (HOPe) work with partners both in Japan and the rest of the world to share our initiatives and related information to realize a sustainable and peaceful world without nuclear weapons.

8:15 am on August 6, 1945—

This is the time when an atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima for the first time in human history. The city of Hiroshima was instantly reduced to rubble, and approximately 140,000 precious lives were lost by the end of that year.

The year 2025 marks 80 years since the first atomic bombing in world history and the end of WWII. Recognizing this milestone year as a turning point, we have been accelerating our efforts toward the abolition of nuclear weapons by implementing two major projects.
