Manufacturing - The backbone of Hiroshima Industries -

The industries of Hiroshima Prefecture are primarily supported by manufacturing. They consist of numerous highly valued companies in wide-ranging industrial categories from heavy industries such as the shipbuilding industry, iron and steel industry, and automotive industry to pioneering industries such as the electrical industry, machinery industry and electronic component industry.

Hiroshima Prefecture has been ranked No.1 for value of manufactured shipments in the Chugoku, Shikoku, and Kyushu regions for 13 consecutive years.

Thanks to cutting-edge technologies in these leading industries, Hiroshima is home to a number of well-known manufacturers producing a wide range of products with a high market share nationwide.

Furthermore, industries (furniture, koto, brushes, etc.) whose tradition is inherited from as far back as the Edo Period are also present, adding to the diversity of the prefecture.

Hiroshima Prefecture is located in the middle of the Kansai and Kyushu economic zones and maintains a network of expressways that have created a brisk flow of people and goods.

As a result, it has a high share in wholesale and retail among the five prefectures in the Chugoku region, setting Hiroshima as a hub of business in this region.
