Welcome to the Hiroshima Prefecture Website

Hiroshima Prefecture enjoys beautiful views of the Seto Inland Sea to the south and the rolling Chugoku mountains to the north, and is blessed with rich and varied nature, four distinct seasons, a long history and traditional culture.

There are also many scenic spots, including two World Cultural Heritage Sites, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial (Atomic Bomb Dome) and Itsukushima Shinto Shrine.

Each season offers a reason to visit Hiroshima.

View beautiful cherry blossoms in the spring or the changing of the leaves in autumn.

Enjoy swimming in the sea and other marine sports in the summer or skiing and snowboarding in the winter. Also, fresh delicacies from the sea and mountains can be enjoyed throughout the year.

The industry of Hiroshima Prefecture has helped to advance everything from heavy industries, including the long-established steel, shipbuilding, and automotive

industries, to pioneering industries, including electric machines, electronic components and devices.

Specialized craftsmanship in manufacturing and technology has gathered in this area to form many one-of-a-kind companies with unique technology and world-class companies with a high market share across many fields.

These companies are leaders not only all over Japan, but around the world.

In Hiroshima Prefecture, there are many excellent universities with a wide range of programs that draw foreign students from all over the world.

Hiroshima Prefecture cooperates with universities and local businesses in order to support all aspects of life for foreign students, starting with acceptance into the university, living in Hiroshima and potential employment opportunities. We are working to build an environment that allows foreign students from overseas to achieve success.

Hiroshima is the first place in human history to have experienced the terrible devastation caused by a nuclear weapon and then recover from the ashes.

By visiting Hiroshima, which seeks to become a global peace hub, you will come to understand the necessity for abolishing nuclear weapons, and be convinced that we can achieve reconstruction and hold hope for the future only if peace is maintained.

Thanks to our bountiful natural blessings, high level city functions and excellent living conditions, we are convinced that people will be satisfied with Hiroshima as a place for sightseeing, for business, for studying and for living.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.

YUZAKI Hidehiko, Governor of Hiroshima Prefecture
