【APPLICATION CLOSED】(For Foreign High School Students living in Japan) "Hiroshima Junior International Forum" Call for Participation

This forum will be the fourth held, participants will learn the realities of radiation exposure, listen to an atomic bombing survivor’s testimony and tour places such as the peace memorial museum and have a discussion about world peace and will announce the result as the “Hiroshima Declaration”.

Come and join our event to exchange opinions with youth from overseas, make new friends and further mutual understanding, and spread a message of peace around the world!

 (2) Dates:            August 20 (Tuesday) to 23 (Friday), 2019

 (3) Location:        International Conference Center Hiroshima, etc.
                           (1-5 Nakajima-cho, Naka-ku, Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Pref.)

 (4) Theme:           What can we do to bring about international peace?
                           (Initiatives for the abolition of nuclear weapons, reconstruction and peacebuilding)

*We will give priority to high school students from countries which have students studying abroad at universities within Hiroshima, namely:

Austria, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Canada, Czech, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cote d'Ivoire, Cuba, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Guatemala, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyz, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Peru, Poland, Portuguese, Russia, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uganda, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan, Yemen, Zambia

*Data on the number of international students is according to a study on international student university enrollment by the Japan Student Services Organization of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

*Applications from Hawaii(USA) and Peru shall be limited to Hiroshima Kenjinkai members.

*Applicants from Sichuan and Guanajuato shall be limited to those recommended by each government

  ・International students enrolled at a university* in Hiroshima:         15 people
   *"University" includes: universities, junior colleges, technical colleges, Japanese language schools, and vocational schools

  ・Japanese High school students:         45 people

 (7) Participation fees: Free

 (8) Costs covered by sponsor:

  ・Transit from home to venue

  ・Lodging in Hiroshima City: 3 or 4 nights (August 19 or 20 - 23)

  ・The following costs will be covered during the program:
    Meetings, documents, tours (admission fees, charter bus costs, etc.), Welcome reception, Meals during the program

   *The cost of various fees will be calculated by the Hiroshima PrefecturalGovernment.

Application

 (1) Application period:   Applications must be received by May 10 (Friday), 2019.   Application was closed.

 (2) Requirements for application:

  ・Youth under 18 years old (preferably high school students)
  ・Have not previously participated in this forum
  ・Be highly interested in realizing international peace (the abolition of nuclear weapons)
  ・Actively participate in English discussions
  ・Join in group activities according to the program
  ・Must attend the entire program unless there are unavoidable circumstances
  ・Be highly motivated to make use of the experiences of this program to participate in international exchanges and local activities

 (3) How to apply:

   ・The application form must be submitted to the address below by post or e-mail.

   ・You can download the application form from the Hiroshima Prefectural Government’s website.
   * The office will carefully manage any personal information submitted, and will use such information only within the objectives of this program.

Selection process:

 (1) Selection of participants:

   After an examination of the application documents, participants will be chosen. The results of the selection will be sent to all applicants.

 (2) Revocation of participant status:

   Even after being selected, if a chosen participant at any time performs an action unbecoming of a participant or if a serious health issue arises, his/her status as a participant may be revoked.
