Message from Gilles Carbonnier (Vice-president of ICRC)
On behalf of the International Committee of the Red Cross, I wish to extend our deepest appreciation to Hiroshima and its people for upholding and preserving the memories of the horrendous suffering and devastation brought about by the atomic bombing in 1945. Hiroshima has borne the scars of this devastation for the past 75 years. Hiroshima is made the memories of the hibakusha known to the whole world.
