Kamotsuru Sake Brewing Company
- Completion year
- Meiji period (1868-1912) ~ Early Showa Period
- Address
- 4-31 Saijohonmachi, Higashihiroshima, Hiroshima(Google Map)
This is the largest sake brewery remaining in Saijo, Higashi-Hiroshima City. On the adjoining site is an Edo period inn's honjin, or headquarters (a facility where feudal lords passing through the city on their way to and from work would stay overnight. In the Hiroshima Domain they were called ochaya). The gate of the honjin still remains today.
While the brewery continues to brew sake as one of Hiroshima's representative sake brands, the buildings such as sake cellars, Western-style buildings, and brick chimneys are well preserved, creating an elegant landscape that is typical of Saijo, together with the surrounding sake cellars.
