Former Official Residence of Commander in Chief, Kure Naval District

Completion year
1906
Address
4-6 Saiwai-cho, Kure, Hiroshima(Google Map

It is one of the buildings that symbolize Kure city, which developed as a former naval military port.It was built as a residence for the Commander-in-Chief and has been restored to its original appearance and is open to the public. The one-story wooden building is a combination of a Western-style building for serving guests and holding office and a Japanese-style building for daily life, including the family. The Western-style part of the building was designed in the English style, as if it was modeled after the British Navy, and the beautiful wallpaper called "kinkarakami" used in the rooms at that time has also been restored.
