International Relations in Hiroshima Prefecture
Due to the ever increasing pace of internationalization, the deepening of mutual understanding and cooperation amongst various fields including education, culture, and economics has become progressively more important.
In the spirit of ever-growing exchange, Hiroshima Prefecture has established sister relationships with Sichuan Province, People’s Republic of China, and Hawaii State, U.S.A.
Working under the theme of “Creating Peace,” Hiroshima Prefecture has made strides towards the realization of true global harmony.
Students, trainees and research teams from the international community are welcomed into Hiroshima.
In addition, Hiroshima supports projects in cooperation with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) via their Hiroshima office.
Activities contribute to international peace and socio-economic stability and advancement through the training of specialists responsible for nation building in developing and/or recovering countries.
Hiroshima International Plaza
Housing the Hiroshima Prefecture International Cooperation Center (HICC), and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is the joint facility, Chugoku International Center. It plays a central role in the international, cooperative activities of the Chugoku region, including those in the field of human resources development.
